And The Word Was God pt. 4

Continuing on with my series where the Word of God is identified as Jehovah Himself. The same Word of God from John 1:1? Yep, that’s him. Let’s read the following passage in Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 13:1-6
1Thus Yahweh said to me, “Go and buy yourself a linen belt and put it around your loins, but do not put it in water.” 2So I bought the belt in accordance with the Word of Yahweh and put it around my loins. 3Then the Word of Yahweh came to me *a second time*, saying, 4“Take the belt that you have bought, which is around your loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates and hide it there in a crevice of the rock.” 5So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh had commanded me. 6Now it happened that after many days Yahweh said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates and take from there the belt which I commanded you to hide there.”

  • So in verse 1, Jehovah / Yahweh goes to Jeremiah and tells him to go buy a linen belt, which Jeremiah does.
  • In verse 2, Jeremiah says he bought the belt in accordance with what the Word of Yahweh told him to do. Wait… Yahweh told him to do that, not the Word of Yahweh, right?
  • Then in verse 3, the Word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah a second time… wait, what? A SECOND time? Yes… because the first time was in verse 1, where he says it was Jehovah / Yahweh.
  • Then in verse 5, Jeremiah says he went and hid the belt as Jehovah / Yahweh had commanded him. But wait… it was the Word of Yahweh that commanded him to do that, not Yahweh.
  • Then in verse 6, Jehovah / Yahweh tells him to go retrieve the belt which “I” commanded Jeremiah hide there. But wait… Jeremiah was commanded to hide it there in verse 4 by the Word of Yahweh, not Yahweh, right?

This passage clearly shows to anyone that can be honest, that the Word of God is identified as Jehovah Himself.
